TERA-Files: Exploring PC_Weapons_28.gpk

One of the most fun things about having texture files client-side and having a foreign version update faster than the localized version is being able to see what files we already have in our data.

In this post, we will be looking through the weapon textures found in the GPK following Nightforge’s file: PC_Weapons_28.gpk.

Probably the most obvious detail in Series 28 is the overarching beetle/insect motif; you will see recurring traits such as the wings, horns and shell texturing. While somewhat appalling, the designs are an entirely different direction than where the Wonderholme and Nightforge sets had gone in.

If you have been keeping up with K-TERA updates, you may remember that Kushbar’s Gorge (official translation pending), the new 10-man dungeon taking the place of Wonderholme, is a plant- and insect-themed dungeon, and the final boss of the dungeon is a giant beetle. Considering the addition of two sets to replace Wonderholme and Steadfast, it would not be unlikely that these are the intended appearances of those weapons.

Taking into consideration that all of the new equipment is a recycle of older equipment (recycled Tier 5 equipment, to be exact), it could be that BHS is considering updating all the models at once in some future patch, and the localized content would arrive with updated equipment appearance.

It’s not impossible. I don’t usually check outside of armor and accessory GPKs, but I’ll take a look and see if there has been anything changed.
